The basic roof rack is a handy accessory of ŠKODA Superb. Due to quality, proven safety, and user's comfort the basic roof rack deserves to be called the best solution for transport of larger objects in case their dimensions exceed the boot volume. This is the only way how to ensure passengers' comfort in a full car. The basic roof rack is easily mounted in the gap between the car door and broadsides. It is lockable and thus it protects the equipment from theft. With use of so called T-slots it is possible to mount other handy and lockable transport systems on the roof rack, like bicycle or ski carriers, ski or snowboard boxes, luggage basket, etc. The basic roof rack passed demanding life and corrosion and impact resistance tests. Its quality is confirmed by successful completion of the City Crash Test, which requires the roof rack loaded with 90 to 120 kg to stay attached to the bodywork through 80 milliseconds of 12G overload. In order to be successful in the City Crash Test, it is also essential that none of the transported objects becomes separated. This ensures maximum safety of passengers inside the car, as well as other traffic participants in front of and behind the car. The loading limit of the roof rack is defined by the maximum allowed load of the roof (including the rack) listed in each vehicle's registration certificate.
