Fully functional wiper blades provide good visibility from the vehicle in adverse weather conditions, providing safety on the road. To maintain this safety, we recommend to pay appropriate attention to the wipers and change their blades at least once a year. For ideal visibility, always change both blades at once, as they do equal amount of work and thus they are subject to same wear and tear. Also, don’t forget to replace rear wiper blades, which are also subject to wear. Good time for the replacement is the end of winter season as frosty windows can cause unnoticeable, but significant damage to the wiper blades rubber.
Easy wiper diagnostics
Some of the wipers from ŠKODA Genuine Accessories are offered with wear indicator. The indicator itself is black and it’s hidden under the protective yellow foil, which is removed when the wiper blades are fitted. The indicator is activated by the foil removal. The diagnostic layer under the foil is sensitive to weather conditions and UV rays to the same extent as wiper blade rubber and indicator gradually changes color from black to yellow, indicating the need to replace the blade. But wear indicator is not sensitive to mechanical damage and damage caused by dirt and frost. This means that in case of mechanical damage, the wiper rubber needs to be replaced sooner, regardless of the wear indicator condition.
